On the heels of the 2019 Connections Retreat and the February luncheon topic around the concept of Viewpoint Diversity (VD for short), you are invited to attend a series of NPI Meetups on a topic that has clinical and personal as well as civic implications. This is strictly voluntary, and there is no expectation or pressure to participate. Below is the framework for this year-long, in depth conversation.
- Monthly Meetups hosted by esteemed NPI colleagues will be announced via the NPI list serve, and RSVP’s will be on a first come, first serve basis. Meetups will vary in format, and will center around preselected reading material, a lecture/TED talk, etc., with a discussion and/or experiential component included.
- For those who are unable to attend the Meetups, we will keep an updated, chronological list of all materials used at the bottom of this page.
- We hope to have the first Meetup scheduled by the end of March and to add a VD Meetup to the calendar each month thereafter.
- Before attending any VD Meetups, as a prerequisite, we are requiring that all who participate complete the 5 module Open Mind app, as well as take the Moral Foundations questionnaire and keep their results. This will ground all participants in the concepts and will preclude spending valuable Meetup time teaching the basics of the material.
So, what can you do now in preparation for participation in the NPI Viewpoint Diversity Project?
- Make sure you are a member of the NPI Meetup Group.
- Not a member of Meet Up? Click here for directions.
- Complete the Morals Foundations Assessment. Be sure to take the 2nd questionnaire on this list called “Moral Foundations Questionnaire.” Allot 15 minutes. Keep your results by taking a screen shot of them or making a pdf.
- Complete all 5 modules of the Open Mind app (allot 90 minutes total, and you can break it up into parts as small as you’d like):
- Go to the following link to access the OpenMind App: https://openmindplatform.org/app-use
- Create a username and password with GuidedTrack. This will enable you to save your progress and to log in from different devices.
- After creating your username and password, you will be prompted to enter an access code. Enter: NPI2018(case sensitive).
Looking forward to a thought-provoking experience!
