Title: “Social Justice & COVID-19: We are definitely not all in the same boat!”
A recent Facebook meme reminds us that we may all be in the same Storm, but we are definitely not all in the same Boat. The Pandemic is shining a bright light on the inequities that plagued our society before the Coronavirus hit, and how those inequities exacerbate the impact of the virus in different communities. If possible, participants are asked to read the following article (Guardian link) and/or listen to the following podcast (APA link) in preparation for our discussion.
- “Coronavirus does discriminate, because that’s what humans do,” by Rebecca Solnit
- “Why is COVID-19 Disproportionately Affecting Black and Latino Americans,” with Brian Smedley, PhD
