Learning Objectives:
- Name and describe basic components of IFS Model, including Self and three types of Parts.
- Explain goals of IFS.
- Learn how to introduce the IFS model to a client.
- Identify therapists’ own Parts through the use of an experiential exercise.
- Describe the IFS therapeutic process of ‘Unblending’.
- Learn a practical intervention to help an anxious client unblend.
Presenter Bio:
Janina is licensed by the state of Tennessee as a Marriage & Family Therapist and maintains a private practice, Tiner Counseling, in Brentwood, TN. She earned a BS in Nursing from UTCHS in Memphis, TN and transitioned careers, graduating in 2006 with a Master of Marriage & Family Therapy from Trevecca University in Nashville, TN. Janina finds that her previous 25-year career as an intensive care nurse enhances her role as a psychotherapist. She has been implementing the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model since 2008. Janina is the only Certified Level 3 IFS Therapist in the Nashville/Middle TN area. Level 3 is spending a week training personally with IFS creator, Richard Schwarz, PhD. Janina has been a Program Assistant for Dr. Schwartz and other Lead Trainers in 5 different trainings, including Level 1 & 2 trainings. She has attended the IFS Annual Conferences and presented workshops to colleagues on integrating IFS with EMDR, and co-presented on the use of IFS in Contemplative Practices. She integrates Judeo-Christian Spirituality in her practice of IFS. She also integrates her advanced trainings as a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, EMDR Level 2 Therapist, and her in-depth experience with the Spiritual Root System and 12-Step Recovery Model. Janina is married to David, her husband of 40 years, and together they have 3 grown children and three grandchildren. Janina is a native Tennessean, loves to read, travel, hike and play with her grandchildren.
