Submission Guidelines

Submission guidelines for the NPI website:

NPI is looking for thoughtful, well-written essays, interviews and case studies on psychological themes and reflections. Submissions considered for the website need to be between 800 and 2,000 words and should be typed and double-spaced. NPI reserves the right to edit copy for the purposes of the website. Email your submissions to [email protected]


Regarding case studies: It will be the responsibility of the editor to assess whether there is any significant case material in an article. If so, the editor will ask the author to send a letter to the board explaining how confidentiality concerns are being addressed. The board is happy to offer a template letter to the writer and will email this to the respective writer when/if necessary.


NPI Reflects Submission Guidelines

NPI Reflects is published 3-4 times per year and includes submissions from active NPI members. Calls for submissions are sent to members via the NPI listserv, which will include the deadline for submission. Please send submissions to Lynnette Davidson at [email protected].


If you are interested in advertising in NPI, please submit your ad in 1/4 page, 1/2 page, or full page size.  Please submit your ad in .jpg, Word, or Adobe PDF format.  If you have questions about pricing, please submit those to the NPI Executive Coordinator, Anna Rushworth, at [email protected].


Please feel free to submit essays on topics that interest you; letters to the editor; book, movie, and training reviews; clinical/psychological articles; poems; photographs, and other creative pieces related to topics that may be of interest to our members. Please keep submissions to 1-2 single-spaced typed pages, preferably in Word format. If you'd like to submit another type of writing or wonder if your submission is appropriate for the newsletter, please don't hesitate to contact Lynnette.  Also, if you have a photograph or digital art that you'd like to accompany your essay, please let Lynnette know that as well.
